Latest trade rumour involving the Raptors will have Toronto fans excited

With the NBA trade deadline quickly approaching (Thursday), trade rumours continue to swirl and the latest rumour involves the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies are reportedly looking to move Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, and according to this report, the Toronto Raptors could be a potential destination for the dynamic duo.

While Memphis has most seriously continued dialogue with Utah and Detroit on Mike Conley trade packages, the Raptors called Memphis offering Kyle Lowry and Jonas Valanciunas for Conley and Marc Gasol, per league sources. Lowry is aware of Toronto’s general trade discussions.

One year ago, if someone told you Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan wouldn't be on the Raptors, you would have laughed in that person's face. According to this report, though, Lowry could be dealt and it's just crazy to think about.

Would be a monumental move for one of the 5 best teams to make during the season. But unless Raptors throws in some picks, it doesn't make sense for Memphis.

Lowry is a year and a half older than Conley. Salary is almost identical. Conley has one more year than Lowry. Jonas makes $7 million less than Gasol and is almost 8 years younger. If getting younger and cutting salary is the Grizzlies goal this deal wouldn't help that much.

On the surface, this deal doesn't seem like it makes sense for the Grizzlies, but we've seen some crazy trades happen in the past that we never thought we'd see, so anything can happen.

As for Memphis, they're said to be eyeing picks, young players and/or expiring contracts for Conley or Gasol (as they should be). I can't imagine why they would trade both for none of those things. Nothing to see here.
