Lance Stroll is the talk of Canada on Sunday Morning, as the rookie F1 driver became the youngest to reach the podium in his first season.
Max Verstappen also reached the podium at 18 years old, but it was his second season as an F1 driver, so Stroll still gets a record. Stroll was passed at the last possible moment forcing him into 3rd instead of 2nd place, but it didn’t make too much of a difference for the young Williams driver.
If anybody had doubts about the driver’s happiness after losing 2nd place, the young Canadian put those to rest in the celebration as he was voted driver of the day and drank champagne from the winner, Daniel Ricciardo’s shoe. Apparently there was some dirt in there as well.
It’s not the way most people would choose to celebrate one of the best moments of their lives, but the F1 community is pretty unique.
It’s not uncommon either, as you only need to look at the most recent Canadian Grand Prix to see Patrick Stewart doing the exact same thing.
