Laine finally commented on getting benched and if it will affect his future with the CBJ

Tortorella on Laine benching: 'We are by it! ...I'm not speaking on this subject anymore'

Two after getting benched by Columbus Blue Jacket head coach john Tortorella, Patrik Laine finally addressed the situation and was willing to take full responsibility.

The 22-year-old was initially believed to be disciplined for a lack fo effort on Hurricanes forward Brock McGinn’s second period goal, however, The Columbus Dispatch’s Brian Hedger reported it was actually for mouthing off at a Jackets coach on the bench. Laine not only admitted that he deserved it, but also said he learned aa valuable lesson from his new head coach.

Laine said he "deserved" to get benched and says he doesn't expect the situation to affect plans for his future or willingness to sign in Columbus long-term.

Said if there's a bright side, it's that he learned it doesn't matter who you are with Tortorella.#CBJ

If it’s any consolation for Patty, he’s fat from the first player to get the Torts treatment. His teammate Cam Atkinson has been there and done that once or twice, just the way things go in Columbus.

The Jackets take on Chicago on Thursday night so we’ll have to see how the Finn bounces back. He had three goals in three games with his new team before the benching.
