This week in the NBA has been one of the craziest stretches of rumours, trades and off-court drama in quite some time.
From Anthony Davis likely leaving New Orleans, to the Dallas Mavericks acquiring Kristaps Porzingis to open up cap space to add two potential max players this summer, basketball fans simply couldn't get enough of all the news around the league.
Kyrie Irving will be a free agent this summer, and there's speculation that he could be leaving Boston to sign in New York, at least that's what Knicks fans are hoping for.
On Friday night, Irving and the Celtics topped the Knicks 113-99, and fans at Madison Square Garden let it be known that they want Irving to leave Beantown for the Big Apple throughout the game, as he was cheered for loudly and often.
After pouring in 23 points, ten rebounds and six assists, Irving was asked on what it was like to hear the chants.
Born in Australia but raised in nearby West Orange, New Jersey, Irving spoke more in-depth about the chants during his post-game presser.
"Obviously you would hope it would quiet down. But like I said, it doesn't help when, across the league, it's just outside noise again and my name gets thrown into it -- and conversations, speculations, everybody's worried about their credibility. I don't know how this media empire works. I know it's a bunch of nonsense to me. I have a focus on winning a championship this year, and that's where my focus is gonna stay. So even me saying something like that is not concrete enough for anybody.
"So, it is what it is. I gotta go home and take care of my friends and family, and that's the stuff that really matters for me."
"I respect the Knicks organization," Irving said. "Obviously they are making moves to position themselves for this upcoming summer. So I wish them the best."
The 2019 free agent class is headlined by Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler and Kemba Walker.
