It doesn’t feel all that long ago since the Toronto Raptors were in a very familiar situation to the one they find themselves in now, 18 years ago.
It was Game 7 between the Raps and 76ers and the series featured some stars of its own. Vince Carter and Allen Iverson went toe-to-toe in an all-time classic that came down to a missed three by Carter as time expired. The game is still talked about today, in Philly as a triumphant win and in Toronto as a near victory, but Raptors point-guard Kyle Lowry doesn’t want to hear about it. In his eyes, the past is the past and this time around he’s looking for the franchise to have a different outcome. He made that crystal clear with TSN’s Josh Lewenberg.
A Philly native, Lowry was just 15 when his hometown Sixers defeated the Raptors. This time around, the 33-year-old is hoping to advance to his second conference championship and take on an inexperienced Bucks team. Through six games, Lowry has averaged 13.7 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds while averaging 38.7 minutes per game.
With Kawhi Leonard’s future up in the air, many are viewing this as one of the last real chances the Raptors will have of making a deep playoff push. Tip-off will take place on Sunday night at 7 PM Eastern Time.
