The Toronto Maple Leafs have added a goaltender to their prospect pipeline during the fourth round of this yearโs NHL Draft, selecting Russian goalie Artur Akhtyamov.
When Kyle Dubas made the call to welcome Akhtyamov to the Leafs, he got a helping hand from none other than former Leaf Nik Antropov, who provided Dubas with a bit of translation help.
What better welcome from your new team than having one of their former players join the call personally? Antropov played with the Leafs from 2005 to 2009, and currently works with the team in a skill development role.
Before selecting Akhtyamov, the Leafs drafted Rodion Amirov (15th overall), Roni Hirvonen (59th) and Topi Niemela (64th) to bolster their farm system.
