You can’t help but feel bad for Kirby Dach right now. The 19-year-old specifically asked Chicago for permission to represent Canada at the World Juniors, was named captain of the team (by none other than Connor McDavid), and saw it all come to an end on a harmless looking play in his team’s only preliminary game. Dach is also expected to miss a portion of the NHL season (which is set to kick off on January 13th) but despite the brutal news, the Hawks forward appears to be in good spirits.
The Saskatchewan native has every reason to be pouting right now but he made sure to share out a tweet thanking his fans for their support. A class act and a player we’re glad to see was rewarded the ‘C’!
As for the injury itself… just the worst luck imaginable.
It’s really, really unfortunate that Dach wasn’t given the chance to play and just as unfortunate for fans, who were looking forward to seeing him make plays like this in the tournament:
Our very best to Kirby with his recovery, and we hope to see you on the international stage in the future!
(H/T Kirby Dach)
