Kevin Pillar is headed to California.

On Tuesday, The Toronto Blue Jays sent him to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for infielder Alan Hanson and right-handed pitchers Derek Law and Juan De Paula. Pillar marks yet another piece to get shipped from the team’s 2015 and 2016 seasons but based on some comments he made just hours before on Monday night, this move may not have come as too much of a surprise. The 30-year-old touched on trade rumours with TSN’s Scott Mitchell and acknowledged the turnover that’s occurred within the organization, along with the lack of members remaining from their back-to-back postseason runs.

So that’s Pillar, Josh Donaldson, Edwin Encarnacion, and Troy Tulowitzki all GONE within two seasons. Oh, and they also shipped one their bats in Kendrys Morales to the A’s last week as well.

As for the return, Mitchell shared his thoughts on the Jays’ haul. He, along with many others in the baseball world, are high on De Paula and insists he could potentially earn a spot in the Jays’ rotation. The 21-year-old compiled a 1.72 ERA in 52 1/3 IP in the Yankees’ and Giants’ systems last season.

After five games, the Jays find themselves already below .500 at 2-3 in the league’s toughest division. This could be a long one for baseball fans in Toronto.
