Kyrie Irving has once again been told to dive into his pocketbook by the NBA after his latest comments broke the league’s media rules. He had a spokesperson from the Brooklyn Nets release a statement that he would not be speaking to the media, a statement that cost him $25,000 along with the team.
It wasn’t just the league that was unhappy with Irving’s comments, in which he stated on Instagram that he does not “talk to pawns.” The public seems to think the comment was an unnecessary and disrespectful way to approach his tumultuous relationship with the media.
Add Irving’s former teammate Kevin Love to that list. Love spoke with the media to give his thoughts, where he calls out Irving for disrespecting people for just making their living.
While it may be more impactful coming from a former teammate, Irving is no stranger to backlash on his comments. Even earlier this week LeBron James mentioned that he was hurt after Irving claimed to have not played with a player as clutch as Kevin Durant.
Kyrie going to Kyrie, but he may have to pay for it.
