You may have noticed Alex Kerfoot looking more and more like an outdoorsman these days. A big, bushy beard has appeared on the Toronto Maple Leafs forward’s face.

While he’s got some impressive growth, he’s got a long way to go before he has a shot at catching teammate Jumbo Joe Thornton on the Leafs’ beard rankings.

Jumbo’s beard has become iconic around the NHL, going back to his time with the San Jose Sharks. According to Kerfoot, Thornton’s beard is actually the inspiration for his own.

Even though he apparently despises it.

While it may be bothersome, Kerfoot is likely hoping to keep it for a while longer. The longer it stays, the longer the Leafs are alive in the playoffs. You can bet he won’t come close to a razor until the Leafs’ season comes to an end.
