Kemba Walker is easily one of the most underrated point guards in the entire NBA.
While it hasn’t been the greatest season for the Charlotte Hornets, the soon-to-be 28-year-old is enjoying a career season where he’s averaging 23.1 points, 5.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game through 73 games and sits fifth in the entire league for points per game by a point guard.
On Wednesday night, the Hornets fell short at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers but it was a historic night for the two-time NBA All-Star as he recorded 21 points in the loss to become the Hornets’ all-time leading scorer. Following the game, Walker was asked about his recent accomplishment and he got a little choked up during the interview.
The former Connecticut Huskies point guard has been the heart and soul of the franchise since they selected him 9th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and he got some love from two of the game’s greatest players of all-time in LeBron James and Michael Jordan following the historic moment.
With the bucket at the end of the game Walker earned career point 9,841, moving him two points ahead of former franchise leader Dell Curry.
