The Minnesota Timberwolves have quietly put together a nice run to end the year, proving to the league that they are chocked full of potential. The success has come on the backs of their star players, including the now-healthy D’Angelo Russell and 2020 1st overall pick Anthony Edwards. No player is more important to the T-Wolves than big man Karl-Anthony Towns.

KAT is one of the most dangerous players in the league when he’s at his best, mixing size with elite talent and range. Unfortunately, it hasn’t really been his year. Towns has been good enough statistically, but an early season wrist injury and entering COVID-19 protocol derailed any sustained success.

On top of that, he was playing all year with a heavy heart. Towns lost his mother Jacqueline, along with other family members, to the virus. A very family-oriented man, the fact that Towns has continued to play at an elite level is remarkable enough as it is.

On Mother’s Day, Towns shared an emotional moment with his father, Karl Sr.

Clearly with a lot on his mind, Towns still managed to go out and score 27 points to go along with nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal. Pretty impressive considering the circumstances.
