Saddle up, people, because we’re fairly certain fans are in for a wild one this NHL season.

Things finally fell into place yesterday, when the info that hockey insiders had been alluding to for weeks became official: the 2020-2021 NHL season will finally start on January 13th.

If you thought the season that got abruptly halted and then restarted in an isolated bubble was weird, we bet we’re in for an even wilder one with the upcoming 56-game, 116-day run in the direction of the Stanley Cup. Just check out the way these divisions are set up!

Don’t worry, though, the divisions aren’t where the madness ends, and this is also the first NHL season that the league is allowing helmet sponsors. Rick Westhead reports that some of these deals could be quite lucrative, but could just be 'make goods' for sponsors who bought in-arena advertorials in what will now be empty venues.

Hockey fans aren’t known to be overly welcoming to change, but in a year where we’ve learned to expect the unexpected, helmet ads and half-season is the way.

Of course, hockey fans are having a great time with this information, and are already coming up with some pretty great helmet partnerships.
