The New York Jets had high hopes for their offence heading into this season with the addition of Le’Veon Bell and the fact that Sam Darnold had a season in the NFL under his belt, but things went sour pretty quickly at the start of the season.

In the opening game of the 2019 campaign, the Jets blew a 16-point lead at home to the Buffalo Bills to fall to 0-1. Before they got a chance to turn things around the following week things got even worse as Darnold was diagnosed with mononucleosis, putting his season on hold for an unknown period of time. On Sunday, the upsetting season continued for the Jets as they were crushed 31-6 against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Darnold has been getting better and is nearing a return as he made the trip with his teammates. Before the game, the 22-year-old reunited with the man who took him under his wing as a rookie in Josh McCown and the Eagles backup quarterback came prepared with the mono jokes.

McCown definitely isn’t the first person to approach Darnold the way he did and definitely won’t be the last person to do it until the second-year quarterback is fully cleared and back to 100%. Darnold seems pretty used to it by now as he couldn’t help but turn his head and laugh it off once he realized what his former teammate was up to.

McCown was trolling his former teammate before the game 🤣♥️ (via @nyjets)
