The Staal brothers are the Staal brothers, and because they’ve been in the league for such a long time, it’s easy to forget how impressive and consistent all these guys’ careers have been.
Two of the three Staals that are NHL mainstays all have a Stanley Cup to their names, which is an impressive feat of its own. Jordan won his with the Pittsburgh Penguins back in 2009, and Eric won his early in his career too, when the Carolina Hurricanes went all the way back in 2006.
While the Hurricanes were outed by the lethal Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round of the playoffs, Eric Staal’s new-look Montreal Canadiens are the underdog story of the year. They came bursting out of the North Division convincingly, and now, they’ll face the Vegas Golden Knights in the semifinals.
It might be tough to cheer for any team when you’ve already been eliminated from the playoffs, so it’s nice to see that the Staal family is always rooting for one another. Jordan made it clear that he’s rooting for Eric to secure his second Cup, and it warmed our hearts.
Gotta love a little brotherly love!
