Germany tends to excel at the Winter Olympics, but hockey has never been their forte. That is, until now.

The country, who currently sits in second with 13 gold medals, will have a shot to add to its total when they take on the Olympic Athletes from Russia on February 25th. Germany advanced to the final after a historic 4-3 upset win over the Canadians.

Following the contest, both players, and fans expressed their disbelief with the win. Canadians shared their disappointment while Germans celebrated what could be a once-in-a-century kind of victory. A couple of old teammates shared a notable exchange that has gained some traction on social media. Perhaps no one was more excited for his country than Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl, who summed up the win in a very fitting tweet.

His good friend and now ex-teammate Jordan Eberle then proceeded to respond with a clever message of his own.

Now, you might be a little confused from Eberle’s response, but the 27-year-old was actually referencing a classic Berlitz commercial from way back. The fact that he even had the presence of mind to recall the old content is impressive.

It’s nice to see that even if they were forced to watch the event, Eberle and Draisaitl still managed to have some fun and support Olympic hockey. As of right now, it’s safe to say all Draisaitl is ‘sinking’ about is his country capturing its first Gold Medal in Olympic Men’s Hockey history.
