Family over everything. That’s the motto we all live by, no matter your profession. Calgary Flames superstar Johnny Gaudreau returned home to Carney’s Point, New Jersey, for several days to be with his father, Guy, who suffered a cardiac event last weekend.
After missing two games with the club, Gaudreau returned back to Cotown in time for the latest installment of the Battle of Alberta now that is Guy’s health has improved.
According to Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan, Guy told his son that he needs to start shooting the puck more.
“We’re having trouble scoring goals so when you get your top guy back, that makes it a little easier, a little nicer to come to the rink,” said Gulutzan of Gaudreau. “He’s jacked up to play, and I know his dad sent him here with some instructions to shoot more, so I think that’s the best coaching he’s going to get.”
What’s interesting is that Gaudreau is actually averaging the most shots of his career in a season at 2.91 per game, just up from his career of 2.56. He’s converting on 10.4 of his shots which is down from his 12.2 average that spans over his four year career. Just keep getting those pucks on net, Johnny.
You can beat Gaudreau’s dad will be watching his son on the television on Saturday night, that is if he wakes up from his pre-game nap of course.
