Earlier this week, Islanders defensemen Johnny Boychuk had some bad news broken to him that he would not be able to continue his NHL career due to an eye injury suffered at the end of the season. It is heartbreaking when a players career ends due to forces that are out of their control.
Boychuk was a skilled defensemen and his last moments in the NHL were spent comforting young star Mathew Barzal after they were knocked out of the playoffs. A great way to reflect the kind of person Boychuk is.
Our hearts are with Boychuk at this time and this if any evidence, he will truly be missed in the locker room by his teammates.
