John Tavares’ first season with the Toronto Maple Leafs did not end the way he and the rest of the organization and the fans would have liked it to, as the Leafs fell short in Game 7 against the Boston Bruins for the second straight season.
Despite having a career year during the regular season with 47 goals and 88 points in 82 games, the ultimate goal was to bring the Stanley Cup back to Toronto and it didn’t happen. Following the disappointing loss, Tavares spoke to the media about his team’s early exit and the most disappointing part of the Leafs’ Game 7 loss.
Tavares finished the series with two goals and five points in seven games, but also happened to be a -5. The six-time NHL All-Star wasn’t the only veteran in the team who wasn’t pleased with the outcome or knows just how hard it is to win the Stanley Cup.
It’s going to be a rough offseason for Leafs fans.
