John Tavares is the ideal hockey player. Hard worker, relatively quiet, and the owner of a squeaky clean resume. He doesn’t portray himself as the loudest guy with the media but little do some hockey fans know, there’s a lot to the Leafs’ new captain.
Tavares sat down with our very own Jesse Pollock on the first edition of In The Pipes with Pollock to discuss a number of topics involving hockey, pop culture, and his own family. It turns out the 29-year-old was a pretty impressive lacrosse player, taking after his own uncle (also named John) who SMASHED a number of NLL records. After touching on who he would choose as the Maple Leafs’ ambassador, Tavares elaborated on which team he dislikes more between the Bruins and Habs.
After some thought, he ultimately went with the team that knocked him out of the playoffs two years in a row.
Can we take a second to acknowledge Corwin’s drumming skills? And that Skullet Skull tape is not actually a real company?!?! Not sure what the inspiration was behind that one but we can all agree that it needs to become a thing. And that rat tails NEED to make a return to both lacrosse and hockey.
Sick bucky flow.
If you were a little confused by Corwin’s question, the flinch came in a game against the Arizona Coyotes last season. We still can’t wrap our heads around how Mr. Tavares was able to keep his cool during this situation. Unlike Jesse, who freaked out from a flippin’ plastic bucket landing on his head.
He really did wear that one…
