This past summer, we teamed up with freelance graphic Joey Tang for a serious of retro hockey cards featuring the NHL’s biggest superstars.
Among the players we chose were included Toronto Maple Leafs’ John Tavares, Auston Matthews, Morgan Rielly and Frederik Andersen, just to name a few.
The graphics were a hit in and around the hockey world, so much to the point where players like P.K. Subban and Tyler Seguin even shared them out on their own personal accounts.
TSN’s James Duthie brought out a couple of the photos onto the The Panel during one of our TSN Hockey Season preview shows that featured some of our personalties, and publications like The Ottawa Sun even shared the artwork out online.
As the series progressed, we wondered how players in the NHL would react to them. Well, thanks to our pal Cabral “Cabbie” Richards, we were able to get Tavares, Nazem Kadri, Zach Hyman and Frederik Andersen to react and review some of their cards in the latest edition of Cabbie Presents. Also, Cabbie takes the crew of Leafs through a giant Word Search, with some hockey and Toronto lingo that, in hindsight, seems much easier than it originally looks.
