Athletes and teams around the world have been coming up with different ways to honour Kobe Bryant and the 8 other victims from last weekend’s tragic accident.

On Friday night the Anaheim Ducks will host the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ducks goalie John Gibson will be wearing a brand new mask when he takes to the ice, in honour of Kobe, Gianna, and the other 7 victims.

The artwork on the mask is absolutely incredible and it was done by Noah Ennis of Shell Shock. The right side feature’s Kobe’s No. 8 over the Lakers logo and his first three championships in stars over the Los Angeles skyline, while the left side features Kobe’s No. 24, two championship stars and 81 in honour of his 81-point performance.

The back panel on the mask includes a silhouette of Kobe and Gianna, which is surrounded by the names of the 7 other victims from the accident.

The Ducks franchise paid tribute to Kobe and the victims earlier this week with a video tribute, and they happened to get a goal from No. 24 Carter Rowney on the team’s 24th shot of the game in what was their 24th home game of the season.

On Wednesday night, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin switched things up for the Caps’ warm-ups by taking to the ice in a No. 24 jersey.
