Ohhhhhh, playoff basketball is right around the corner! The 2020-21 season is particularly intriguing given the fact that the top 10 seeds from each conference have at least a SHOT at getting in.

Teams that fall within the 7 to 10 seeding range will compete for a chance to enter the playoffs. It’s made for some very exciting basketball down the stretch, as teams clamour to get in the Top 10. Meanwhile, teams around the 5 or 6 seed don’t want to fall to 7 where they’ll have to play their way in.

The only teams that it does really matter for are the teams at the very, very top of the conference, and teams that are out of playoffs completely.

The Philadelphia 76ers fall into that first group, as winning games doesn’t really matter as much to them. They’re more free to rest players and take some other liberties, as their #1 vs. #2 seed battle just isn’t quite as meaningful.

Given all that, we still wish we could have seen Sixers star Joel Embiid hit this potential game-tying shot to force overtime. With almost no hope of going in, it came so close to doing just that.

Wow. Even though the game doesn’t really matter, it would have been so cool to watch that one drop through.

Would have maybe been the 2nd wildest buzzer-beater Embiid had been involved with…
