Joe Thornton has been in the league longer than pretty much everyone. In fact, the only player drafted into the league ahead of him was Zdeno Chara. His longtime San Jose Sharks teammate Patrick Marleau was drafted one spot behind him in the 1997 Entry Draft.

If you didn’t know any better, you may assume he hadn’t shaved his beard since that point.

Thornton has become known for growing out one of the league’s most iconic beards, with grizzled silver streaks throughout it showing off his league legend status. Of course, we know that he hasn’t always had the beard, and that he’s even shaved off one iconic beard already (and had it accidentally partially ripped off by Nazem Kadri for that matter).

Well, we’ve reached the day again where Jumbo Joe returns to Baby-faced Joe. This time, the reveal was done in an awesomely creative way.

We say goodbye to the beard, but we have to respect the video. Somehow his daughter also seemed to make the clouds disappear?!

For the Sharks, they’re just glad this happened during quarantine and not, you know, right immediately after media day pictures were taken.

Okay now please grow it back.
