The pandemic brought with it all sorts of struggles in the hockey world. Health scares, protocol concerns, fewer games, and a lack of diversity in opponents. On the flip side, the rivalries between teams that were aligned into the same division have likely never been stronger.
Take the North Division, for example. The all-Canadian division allowed each team north of the border to get to know one another VERY personally. If the inter-Canada rivalries weren’t enough for you before, they likely are now.
With NHL rivalries, of course, come fan rivalries. You don’t need to look much further than our own peace-disturber Jesse Pollock to understand that.
At the beginning of the season, Jesse made a bet with fellow BarDown employee Corwin McCallum. After the Toronto Maple Leafs were able to win the season series vs. Jesse’s team, Winnipeg, Jesse was forced to shave his hair into a mullet, with Maple Leafs detailing and Auston Matthews #34 built right in.
It didn’t take long until the freshly mulleted Jesse was out for revenge.
Making a sign to chirp the Leafs is one thing, but Jesse stepped it up to a box truck projecting chirps directed squarely at Corwin. When that wasn’t enough, he went full #FireBenning and rented a plane to tow a custom message.
