Jesse Puljujarvi plans on staying in Finland until the Oilers trade him

A lot of Edmonton Oilers fans and people throughout the organization were extremely happy when the Columbus Blue Jackets selected Pierre-Luc Dubois third overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft because it allowed them to select Jesse Puljujärvi with the very next pick.

Fast forward three years and you can bet every single Oilers fan is wishing things went the other way and they ended up with Dubois instead of Puljujärvi considering Dubois’ NHL point total is almost higher than the amount of NHL games Puljujärvi has played.

Puljujärvi has been working out this offseason in Oulu, Finland, and recently played in a charity game. Following the game the 21-year-old discussed his future in Edmonton and it doesn’t look like he’ll be returning to the NHL as a member of the Oilers, according to Jouni Nieminen.

Last month Puljujärvi hinted that his time with the Oilers is nearing an end, but now it’s just a matter of whether or not Edmonton will be able to find a suitor.

More Puljujärvi, from Kaleva newspaper: "My body feels like it should, and the operated hip is better than new." He believes he will get traded out of Edmonton by start of training camp.

Over the past three seasons he has split time between the NHL and the AHL, scoring 17 goals and 37 points in 139 NHL games and 15 goals and 37 points in 53 AHL games.
