There are many people who make an NHL team tick outside of the players. They are people that younger hear about, equipment managers, trainers one of them was named Jerry Trempe and he was one of the most well respected skate specialists in the league.

Krause passed away recently and his impact will be everlasting in the NHL for lots of pros like Patrick Kane.

Jerry was a 37-year veteran at Bauer who worked in their innovation centre in Quebec.

Jerry was known across the industry as the "skate doctor." Throughout his career he worked with countless NHL players such as Evgeni Malkin, Peter Forsberg, and Patrick Kane (the list goes on and on) to develop custom skate solutions, and made significant contributions to the innovation of skates and how they are made today.

He wasn’t just a regular equipment manager, he was a pioneer.

Peter Forsberg was so grateful for Jerry’s constant service that he thanked him during his retirement speech

Jerry didn’t just help professionals. Jerry was best known for the care and attention he would put into developing skates for children born with physical challenges, or veterans with injuries that required unique product development. Jerry would do anything and everything possible to get players on the ice. That was the man that everyone loved as he had such compassion for others and wanted to give everyone the gift to play hockey.

Jerry will be missed by many members in the NHL, his friends and family.

Here’s to the Skate Doctor.
