There are only a limited amount of spots available in the NHL All-Star Game, so with the amount of talent that’s currently in the league and with the rule that every team must have a representative in the lineup, some of the top players in the game are bound to get snubbed from the team.
Jack Eichel was an obvious selection for the Buffalo Sabres as the captain has 49 points in 40 games, but a lot of people felt Jeff Skinner was an obvious selection, as well, considering he sits second in the league with 26 goals and has 39 points in 40 games. Well, there’s still a chance that the 26-year-old can still make the trip to San Jose thanks to the “Last Men In” voting system and some clever signs have started sprouting throughout Buffalo in hopes of influencing fans and residents to go out and vote for him.
The Sabres decided to roll with ‘Jeff Skinner for Mayor of Buffalo’ signs as a way of getting Sabres fans to vote for the winger before the deadline so he can join Eichel in San Jose.
Skinner is going up against some tough competition for the final spot on the Atlantic Division roster as he’ll need to beat out guys like Mitch Marner, Aleksander Barkov and Morgan Rielly, but the Sabres are pretty confident he’ll get the votes he needs to make the trip.
