Troy Tulowitzki isn’t moving anywhere. On the diamond that is.

The 33-year-old, who’s been sidelined this season due to bone spurs in his ankles, hasn’t played a game since July 29, 2017. Earlier today he officially threw in the towel on any hope of a return, but it was his remarks regarding his position in the in-field that left fans wondering what exactly the team will do with him in the future. The Santa Clara, CA native insisted that he won’t play anywhere else on the team other than at shortstop.

With three years remaining on a 10-year, $157.8 million contract, you can’t help but wonder what the Blue Birds will do with Tulo next season. With younger (and cheaper) options in Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Aledmys Diaz, trading the veteran seems like a logical option, but the ball seems to be in his park based on his ginormous deal. Fans didn’t take to the news too well, with one pointing out that Russell Martin will play anywhere just to get some time on the playing surface.

With Josh Donaldson’s future up in the air, the once mighty Blue Jays era of the 2010’s has deteriorated, What happens next year remains up in the air, but it’s clear that Tulo will be fielding balls between 2nd and 3rd in 2019.
