The Elite Eight game between the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils and the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday night certainly lived up to the hype as the two basketball powerhouses competed in one of the most entertaining games of the tournament.

The Jayhawks outscored the Blue Devils 39-36 in the second half to force overtime, where Kansas then outscored Duke 13-9 to seal the deal. With the team now off until next Saturday and set to make their first appearance in the Final Four since 2012, plenty of students packed the Allen Fieldhouse so they could surprise their team with a warm welcome.

The only thing the students knew was that their guys were expected to return home anywhere between 10:30 pm and 11:15 pm, but that was all they needed to hear to get them to lineup outside the team’s home arena for a chance to see the guys return home with a trophy in hand.

The feeling of being in the Final Four must be incredible and to come home to see thousands of supporters waiting for you just to congratulate you definitely makes it all even better.

The Jayhawks are in for another tough test next Saturday when they take on the other remaining No. 1 seed the Villanova Wildcats with a spot in the championship on the line.
