The Dallas Stars selected Jarome Iginla with the 11th overall pick in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, but they ended up trading him to the Calgary Flames a few months later in exchange for Corey Miller and Joe Nieuwendyk before Iginla ever got to suit up in a Stars jersey.

On Wednesday afternoon, the two-time Rocket Richard winner got his much-deserved call to the Hockey Hall of Fame, and it officially made him the first Stars draft pick to ever receive the call.

The Stars have had their fair shares of Hall of Famers go through the franchise, but Jarome Iginla is the only Hall of Famer who was actually drafted by the franchise after its move to Dallas (even though he never played a game for the team).

Iginla went on to play 1,219 games in a Flames uniform, scoring 525 goals and 1,095 points along the way. He also owns the Flames’ franchise record for games played, goals, points, power play goals and game-winning goals.
