Just a few weeks ago, Drew Brees announced his retirement after 20 NFL seasons.
Many people within the football community look at Brees as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, so when he announced his departure many people were emotional.
One of them being Saints QB Jameis Winston.
When Winston was asked about the impact Brees had on him, his emotions expressed those feelings for him.
Within his response, he shares how Brees was a role model for him and sums up the experience as a “dream” of his. He then chokes up as he talks about the meaning Brees has within his own career.
“He doesn’t even know how much he means to me and my family.”
The opportunity to play with Brees was one that Winston will carry with him forever, as he shares how special and meaningful it was to serve him as a teammate.
He then continues to share how he looked up to Brees growing up and discusses how much Brees meant for New Orleansfollowing the Saints Super Bowl win after the tragic events of Hurricane Katrina.
Winston signed a one-year contract with the Saints back in April and made his first appearance in Week 9 against his former team and Super Bowl LV Champions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In both Week 9 and 10, Winston relieved Brees and additionally subbed in during the Divisional Round against the Bucs during a trick play where he tossed a 56-yard touchdown pass to Tre’Quan Smith.
