Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles were left confused by their team’s decision to draft quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round when they already have Carson Wentz under contract through 2024.

Hurts has one thing going for him with his new team, at least. He’ll slide neatly right into Nick Foles’ old role from the get-go, since he’s already familiar with his famous Eagles trick play from the 2018 Super Bowl: The Philly Special.

Hurts ran the Philly Special with his college team Oklahoma back in November, to some exciting results.

Maybe we could see some two-QB sets from the Eagles with Wentz and Hurts down the line? Hurts is definitely talented, and there’s some potential for dynamism there.

We still get why this one was a head-scratcher for Eagles fans — it probably wasn’t the addition Wentz was hoping for, either. Still, he gave a warm welcome to Hurts on Twitter, and we’re sure that if Hurts ever does complete the Philly Special for the Eagles, that’ll be one quick way to win the fans over.
