The NBA Draft has come and gone, and the most recent crop of promising NBA prospects have now been selected to their teams. While most draft picks, both this year and historically, are simply grateful to have made it to the big leagues, others take the spotlight opportunity to have their real thoughts known.

Whether or not this was Jalen Green intention when he went into detail about his relief to not be playing for the Detroit Pistons, it certainly seemed like that to Motor City fans after Green made some comments to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.

An excerpt from Yahoo Sports:

“I felt a lot more comfortable in Houston. It felt like a real homie environment. With Detroit, it felt like I was just going back to the G League bubble, and I just got out of the bubble. That’s pretty much what it was.

“In the [G League] bubble, I didn’t really have anything to do but just stay in the gym. I didn’t have any time to get away for myself. The only time I had to get away for myself was in my apartment. That’s what it felt like in Detroit. I wouldn’t be stepping outside in Detroit. There are not many things you can do in Detroit like that. You’re going to stay in the gym and then go back to your apartment.”

Well, there’s no polite way of saying that.

Detroit elected to go with consensus #1 overall pick Cade Cunningham, with the Houston Rockets landing Green instead. The two teams already met in Summer League action, with Green outscoring Cunningham 25 to 20.

You can bet there will be a little extra juice when these two squads meet in regular season action.
