When it comes to professional sports, health and safety are paramount. While athletes are some of the toughest and most capable bodies around, they also put a lot more strain on themselves than most other professions.

On top of that, 2020 is just different. Health and safety are even more at the forefront, and even resulted in essentially a global athletic hiatus in hopes of staving off the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with sports returning, conversations around health and safety are louder than ever.

And Jakub Voracek has HAD IT.

The Philadelphia Flyers forward missed scrimmage on Saturday, sending a wave of media curiosity his way. As is the nature of hockey these days, the injury was left as “undisclosed”. Apparently Voracek got one too many questions about the missed scrimmage, and he made sure once and for all that everyone knew he was going to be okay.

He was back on the ice on Sunday, and we’re choosing to believe him when he says he’s not dying. Besides, the Flyers have the extra time off after qualifying for the 4th “bye” of the play-in round in the East.
