The power of the internet is can be an amazing tool if you use it the right manner, For NHL players like J.T. Brown who has over 28,000 Twitter followers, using social media to one’s advantage is now looked at as another source of revenue for athletes in almost every sport.

Freshly signing a new contract with his home state club, the Minnesota Wild forward is an avid gamer, particularly Fornite. Earlier this month, we told you about Brown organizing a 24-hour Fortnite fundraiser.

The live stream was put on by Twitch and featured NHL stars Brock Boeser, Johnny Gaudreau, Zach Werenski, Nick Bonino and Vladislav Namestnikov. Brown selected a random group of fans to take part in the fun fundraiser that went down last week.

Brown told NHL.com that the event was a rounding success, bringing in over $1,300 for the Hockey is Everyone campaign.

“I would like to thank those who took time to tune in and make it an enjoyable time. "Also a big thank you to those who generously donated money to the cause. Without any of them, I'd just be me in my basement playing video games alone, and that's not as fun."

If you’d like to see some of your favourite stats play the popular game, the full 24-hour steam is below.

Brown’s wife, Lexi (who’s one of the best Twitter follows out there) made sure Brown kept it down so their child could sleep during the marathon.

Way to keep it quiet, J.T.

Major props to J.T., though. He organized the tournament for a great cause, and managed to stay up for 24 hours straight all without a cup of coffee.

"I got partnered with Twitch to use that for a way to give back to charity and do something I love to do and pretty much have done my whole life and be able to do that as a platform to give back. "It's awesome that we can do that: play video games and donate the money."
