Oh, J.R. Smith. The man is always up to something, whether it’s spending his first 48 hours as a NBA champion shirtless or dalliances in the DMs.
This time, he was suspended for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Thursday game against the Philadelphia 76ers… because he threw a bowl of soup at Cavs assistant coach Damon Jones.
There have to be more details coming out on this, right? How much soup? How hot? Chunky?
Also, what did Damon Jones do to deserve this? You might remember Jones from the time he got dunked on by LeBron James in 2005, which was such an egregious poster dunk that it’s still talked about in 2018. The guy can’t win.
In the grand scheme of things, this is only a small detail to a mostly bad and highly chaotic Cavs season – although the team must hope, after having shaken the entire roster up during the trade deadline, that things are beginning to turn around. In regards to that, this latest bit of drama isn’t necessarily going to be a huge bump in the road.
But, uh, yeah. The DNP-SOUP line on the box score is going to be something special.
