J.J. Watt regretfully isn’t playing in Super Bowl 52, but he’s soaking up the experience as a spectator in Minnesota.

Watt suffered a fractured tibial plateau in his left leg earlier in the year and the Texans saw their season deteriorate thereafter. Despite the flunk of a campaign, the defensive end recently revealed that he’s glad to be back in the state where he played so many hockey games as a kid, and shared which player he pretended to play like in his peewee days.

Watt has made his love for hockey very well known around the sports world, as he has shared multiple videos of his massive 6’6 frame on skates.

The 28-year-old admitted that his favourite athlete of all time is the late Gordie Howe this past year, but as an American who grew up close to the Minnesota North Stars, it’s no surprise that Watt strived to be like the great Mike Modano.

With the game still three days away, there’s still plenty of time for Watt to visit a local outdoor rink and showcase his best Modano impersonation. Who knows, maybe he’ll run into the Hall of Famer at the big game?
