Let’s get real for a moment here. Are the Detroit Lions actually a cursed team?

We know they aren’t that great of a team, but for years and years they continue to lose in the most heartbreaking ways imaginable. 2021 has been no different for the Lions and their impressively faithful fans.

Week 1: The Lions are getting pummeled by the San Francisco 49ers only to claw back within one score. They lose.

Week 2: The Lions are up 17-14 at halftime against their bitter rival, the Green Bay Packers. They fail to score any points in the entire 2nd half and lose.

Week 3: The definition of heartbreaking. Justin Tucket sets an NFL record by booting a 66-yard field goal to win the game. It literally hits off the middle bar and bounces through. Lions lose.

Week 4: The Lions can’t overcome the Chicago Bears despite Justin Fields only managing to complete 11 passes all game. Lions lose again.

Week 5: The Lions score a late touchdown to pull within one point of the Minnesota Vikings. Instead of going for the tie, the Lions dials up a 2-point conversion… and they convert! With time ticking down, Minnesota marches down the field and kicks a long field goal to win the game.

Five weeks is how long it took for the Lions to seemingly break head coach Dan Campbell. Following the heartbreaking loss, a teary-eyed Campbell stepped up to the podium and explained how hard it is to lose like that.

That looks like a broken man. That looks like a Lions head coach, actually.
