In basketball, the 'G.O.A.T' debate between Michael Jordan and LeBron James is one fans, players and media members all enjoy discussing because a realistic argument can actually be made for James.
In hockey, however, Wayne Gretzky is the greatest of all-time and there are few players that are even in that discussion with him.
With 894 career goals and 1,963 assists, the stats certainly support why Gretzky is the greatest of all-time, but to truly appreciate those numbers, check them out on this graph Reddit User SnazzyScott made of the goals and assists of every NHL player to ever play.
Incredible work from Snazzy Scott, first and foremost, because we imagine this didn't take few hours to put together.
It's absolutely insane to see how much of an outlier Gretzky is on a graph like this.
Nobody is in the same stratosphere, and although numbers aren't the only determining factor in the greatest of all-time debate, they certainly are a big part of it.
Anyone that watched Gretzky play, though, knows numbers only tell half of the story.
