The offseason is approaching, and once the normal business dies down — the draft, free agency, etcetera — LeBron James’ long-awaited Space Jam sequel is going to start filming. It’s slated for release next year, on July 16, 2021.
We know that LeBron will star in the film, but how many of his buddies around the league will be joining him? Of course, the original Space Jam boasted a wide number of NBA stars alongside Michael Jordan in major as well as cameo roles, and one figures that the sequel is going to deliver on that front, too.
We have our first word on which NBAer will be joining LeBron on screen, and surprisingly, it’s one of his playoff enemies from over the years: Klay Thompson.
Compared to some of the other guys around the league, Klay is a bit of a quiet personality, but as we know, he also has a pretty dry wit, so we can look forward to that. (Interestingly, he’s also a free agent this summer. Will he also be teaming up with LeBron outside of Space Jam 2?)
We don’t know who else will join LeBron and Klay on the cast of Space Jam 2. Perhaps Kyrie Irving, who starred in Uncle Drew, is down for another movie role, or Aaron Gordon who was also in that film.
We know at least one player who isn’t interested: Giannis Antetokounmpo already shot down rumours of his involvement.
