Three 40-year-old quarterbacks were suiting up wild card weekend. Possibly the greatest quarterback of all-time, depending who you ask, Tom Brady. Another name in that conversation, Drew Brees. And of course, who can forget Josh McCown.
All three were eliminated, and it brought forward questions of each one’s future. While McCown doesn’t carry the same legendary status the other do, his loss was perhaps the most heartbreaking in a way. He had never been in a playoff game before, he had never tasted glory. When Carson Wentz left the game in the concussion protocol, he finally had his shot.
He couldn’t get it done, but it’s hard not to cheer for a guy that carries that much emotion. The longtime NFLer was seen in tears after the game, and he showed just how much heart he had in the postgame presser as well.
McCown has been a journeyman in the league for a long time, never complaining and always doing his job. Philly is his 9th NFL team.
