When you ask a Toronto Maple Leafs’ fan who their favourite Leaf is, there are a number of usual suspects. Maybe they like Auston Matthews’ shot, or Mitch Marner’s craftiness, or Freddy Andersen’s goaltending. Saying that, a new candidate has arrived for many, and he comes bearing soup.
Russian rookie Ilya Mikheyev earned himself the nickname “Soupman” when he went viral questioning why Canadians don’t like soup more. Since then, he’s fielded lots of questions about his love for soup, and we now have a pretty detailed soup profile on him.
On Sunday, Campbell’s surprised him with a big ol’ bag of soup welcoming him.
All we’re saying, if an animated series comes out about Mikheyev somehow fighting crime with the aid of Soup, we’re watching it.
