Tom Dundon has made some bold statements since becoming a majority owner of the Hurricanes earlier this year, but he saved the best for last.
The Hurricanes had another disappointing season and Dundon wants things to change quickly. The team has been trapped in a place that many people consider to be the worst place to be in professional sports: the middle. In the past five years, the team has finished 21st, 21st, 18th, 26th, 24th, meaning they never made the playoffs and they’ve never finished in the bottom three either.
Dundon wants to start changing things up and it sounds as if no player, except one, is safe.
In just his second year in the league, Sebastian Aho has put up 65 points in 78 games. The 20-year-old leads the team in points and the only one even close is his linemate, 23-year-old Teuvo Teravainen.
One thing that would certainly speed things up for them was if they had some luck in the NHL Draft Lottery.
