The Carolina Hurricanes were expected to finish near the bottom of the standings this year after their offseason moves but now they find themselves two wins away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Final.
Despite opening up their second round series in New York, the Hurricanes managed to steal both wins on the road and received quite a bit of love from Hurricanes fans as they returned home late Sunday night.
The Hurricanes edged the Islanders 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to add to their series lead and by the time they got home there were plenty of ‘Canes fans waiting for them at the airport.
There was also a massive watch party outside the arena for Game 2 and the fans celebrated the big win with a Storm Surge of their own.
Game 3 will go down Wednesday night back in Raleigh.
