It didn’t take long for Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers to become friends since the former was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in 2016.

The two make up a small percentage of the roster’s European demographic and are separated in age by just two years. While both possess unique NHL talent, their bond has been built on their mutual love for video games. According to a Finnish newspaper, Laine admitted both players bring their PlayStations on the road and always ask the hotel for an extra TV. If they can’t get one, they waste no time and just buy a new one.

Laine goes on to explain a hilarious story when the duo visited New York City on a road trip. When they couldn’t find another TV to game on, Laine and Ehlers went to New Jersey to fulfill their craving. He then confessed that it broke and was left in the Garden State.

Laine’s love for video games has been well-documented this season. Earlier in the year, the forward referred to Xbox players as “pigeons”, which explains why he and “Danish Boy”, as he calls him, are such good buds.

As the Jets continue their quest for the cup, Laine will continue to do his thing and game in his off-time. After scoring 44 goals in the regular season, fans can agree he's doing all the right things.
