Team Canada’s has set a new record for medals at the 2018 Winter Games and that will be without a gold in Women’s Hockey, Men’s Hockey, Women’s Curling or Men’s Curling.

After a shocking couple of losses over the past couple of days, the Canadian men’s hockey team followed suit in their semi-final matchup. They were going head-to-head with a German squad that has never had much success on the international level, but that has changed. They defeated Canada 4-3 and will take on the Olympic Athletes from Russia in the gold-medal game.

There was kind of a mixed reaction from Canadians. Of course, the tournament isn’t best-on-best so there was a built in excuse, but it’s also hard not to be happy for the German team.

A lot of people look at the Olympics as a place to grow the game of hockey and seeing new teams compete for the gold medal is how that’s going to happen. So, many Canadians are hoping on the German bandwagon for the gold-medal game.
