The Edmonton Oilers got off to a solid start to the season, but the last 10 games have been a struggle as the team is 3-7 over their last 10.
The last loss came on Sunday against the Golden Knights (6-3 the final) and little did anyone know that would be the last game Todd McLellan would coach for the Oilers.
On Tuesday, the Oilers fired McLellan, who had this year and next left on his contract, and replaced him with Ken Hitchcock, who last coached with the Stars last season.
There's a ton of talent on the Oilers' roster right now and obviously management feels a coaching change can help that talent translate to wins.
McLellan led the Oilers to the playoffs in his second season as coach of the team, but the Oilers have struggled mightily since and while some fans are excited about a coach with the pedigree that Hitchcock has taking over, others are a bit skeptical and had another name in mind to take over.
