On Monday, the NCAA’s Football Championship Subdivision announced the finalists for its Walter Payton Award, which goes to the best offensive player in the division. Considering that the FCS is generally viewed as the second tier to the Football Bowl Subdivision, in which more popular teams like Alabama and Ohio State play, you could be forgiven for missing that.

But one finalist stood out to us with an incredible name, and we’re sure that hockey fans are going to love this guy’s name.

Meet North Dakota State’s quarterback: Easton Stick.

Bold decision by NDSU to go out there every week with a hockey stick as their quarterback, but if it works, it works. Easton Stick is actually quite accomplished in FCS play, as he led NDSU to a national championship last season and was named Most Outstanding Player in the championship game.

It’s only too bad this guy is playing football. It seems to be working out for him and all, but he was destined to be out on the ice. Just imagine if there was a guy in the NHL with the name Easton Stick. Literally a walking endorsement.

Easton’s Aluminum stick made an appearance on our list of the weirdest twigs in hockey history. Can you guess any of the rest?
