It must be nice to be a Dallas Mavericks fan. Just as the Dirk Nowitzki era draws to an end after two decades that culminated in a championship, along comes Luka Doncic, and the young Slovenian has absolutely dazzled as one of the most polished first-year players that we’ve seen in some time.
Both players made the trip to Charlotte for the NBA’s All-Star festivities, and while they were there, the two were strung along for a game of the whisper challenge — one person wears noise-cancelling headphones and tries to read the lips of the other.
Man, right out of the gate with the hard stuff! Mike Krzyzewski, the legendary head coach at Duke University, is certainly hard enough to pronounce on its own, much less at a guess. Doncic got Giannis though! And Dirk knows his Baby Shark!
Dirk is going to be playing in tonight’s All-Star Game, along with Dwyane Wade after both players were awarded honorary All-Star spots to commemorate the final years of their careers. Doncic didn’t make the cut for this year’s game, but he was the recipient of a rather lofty LeBron James comparison from Wade. Yeah, we think this bodes well.
